About The Author

Hi! Thanks for stopping by.

If you’re like me, you like to know a little about the author behind the books, so let’s go!

I’m J M Archer, but you can call me Josie. The most important thing to know about me is that I’m a Christian. The Bible is a roadmap I try to follow as best as I can. That being said, I still mess up a lot… boarding on constantly. Thank God for grace!

Christianity always shows up in my books, but not in a preachy way. Themes of forgiveness, finding and keeping faith, accepting who God made us to be, and finding our worth in him are common threads in my work. Why? Because that’s what the books always turn to. I’ll admit, I don’t always plan ahead of time. I believe these are themes the Lord has put close to my heart. They are also things I’ve struggled with in my own life, so it only makes sense to write about them!

I was born and raised in the southern United States. I went spelunking, learned mountain climbing, and was taught self-defense when I was a toddler. Survival skills, including tracking, have always been a part of my upbringing.

A few more things…

I’m a homeschool graduate.

The mountains draw me like gold attracts a dragon, and I would happily live in a secluded cabin in the woods where I could hike and write books all day.

I’m an artist who loves graphite sketching, acrylic paints, digital art, and graphic design.

I dabble in archery and knife-throwing. But don’t rely on me for protection. We’ll both perish.

I’m the caretaker of two fur dragons and an elderly griffin (cats and a twelve-year-old chicken).

So, that’s me in a nutshell!

  • It means that stories have power, and when we infuse those stories with biblical truths, they have the ability to impact lives.

This is why I always weave Christian themes into my books. I’ve read many books that have impacted me in great ways; books God has moved through in my life. I hope and pray my books do the same someday.

  • Because I was called.

I’ve always loved writing. I love stories. It’s part of who I was designed to be. So when God called me to write when I was fifteen years-old, I dove in and never looked back.

  • The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. (Very original of me, I know. Also, I still cry when Aslan dies!)

  • Oh, that is a difficult question! I love so many books by so many people.

To name only a few: Tara Grayce, K.M. Shae, Donita K. Paul, Jaye L. Knight, and so many more.

  • Elves and dragons.

  • My books are always clean, but do touch on heavy topics.

They often include: non-graphic violence, no-spice romance, mental health struggles including depression and suicide, abuse, drinking.

I try to portray real to life darkness in God-honoring ways, showing darkness for what it is: an evil to be defeated, never glorified. I include mental health because I know how powerful it can be to see representation in books. Abuse is common in my books, and I want to show that there is hope and that healing is possible with Christ.

All my books are suitable for ages 13+.
